A team from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), led by Senior Mission Chief for Sri Lanka, Peter Breuer, has arrived in Colombo to conduct the third review of Sri Lanka's economic reform program.

The review is part of the IMF’s ongoing support for the country through its Extended Fund Facility (EFF), which was designed to help Sri Lanka address its fiscal challenges and stabilize its economy.

The IMF team will be in Sri Lanka from November 17 to 23, assessing the progress made under the reform program, which includes measures aimed at fiscal consolidation, improving public debt management, and enhancing economic resilience. The review will also focus on the implementation of structural reforms and the country’s efforts to meet its debt sustainability targets.

Speaking on the mission, an IMF spokesperson emphasized the importance of this review in ensuring Sri Lanka remains on track with its reform agenda, which is crucial for securing continued international financial support and restoring long-term economic stability.

This visit follows previous reviews of the program, which have seen both progress and challenges as Sri Lanka continues to navigate a complex economic recovery following a period of crisis. The IMF’s Extended Fund Facility is a key component of Sri Lanka’s broader strategy to stabilize its economy and restore growth.

Further details on the mission’s findings and recommendations are expected to be released at the end of the review period.
