The preferential vote results of the Kalutara District in the 2024 General Election have been released, confirming the re-election of former MP Rohitha Abeygunawardhana. Representing the New Democratic Front (NDF), Abeygunawardhana secured 10,204 votes, earning him a parliamentary seat.
The National People’s Power (NPP) dominated the district, with Nalinda Jayatissa leading the preferential votes with an impressive 371,640 votes. Other top NPP candidates included Nilanthi Kottahachchi (131,375) and Nihal Abeyasinghe (96,721).
The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) also secured two seats in the district, with Ajith Perera (43,975) and Jagath Vithana (43,867) receiving the highest votes for their party.
