Minister Vijitha Herath has set a historic milestone in the 2024 Parliamentary Election by securing 716,715 votes in the Gampaha District. This remarkable achievement surpasses the previous record held by Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, who garnered 655,289 votes in the Colombo District.
Herath’s victory marks the highest number of votes ever received by a single parliamentary candidate in Sri Lanka. His popularity in the Gampaha District reflects the strong support for the National People’s Power (NPP) and their campaign promises for change and progress.
