According to Police Spokesperson DIG Nihal Thalduwa, 41 people have been arrested for breaking election laws during Sri Lanka's Parliamentary Election period. Among those arrested are two candidates.
DIG Thalduwa stated that most arrests were due to illegal campaign activities, including taking photos, tearing ballot papers, distributing money, and physical assaults.
Despite these incidents, police confirmed that the overall polling period was relatively peaceful.
