Police Spokesman DIG Nihal Thalduwa announced that polling for Sri Lanka's parliamentary election has been peaceful, with no incidents of election-related violence reported.

However, three people were arrested today (November 14) for illegal election campaigning. The individuals, aged 49, 19, and 26, are from Nedunkerny, Mannar, and Biyagama.

In a press briefing, DIG Thalduwa emphasized that other than these minor incidents, no acts of violence have been reported, and the election has remained calm.

DIG Thalduwa also confirmed the deaths of three individuals involved in election duty, reportedly from natural causes. Among the deceased is a 33 years old police officer stationed at a polling center in Kurumburai within the Kopai Police Division.

Additionally, a 48 years old female officer assigned to the ‘Siri Sadaham Ashramaya’ Monastery polling station in the Kesbewa Police Division passed away after being hospitalized due to illness.

A 57 years old staff member at a Kobeigane polling station also died from a sudden illness. Police suspect heart attacks as the cause, though post-mortem examinations are pending. Election had been concluded Peacefully and Successfully without any major disruptions, Police Department confirmed.
