Voter turnout for the 2024 General Election has surged in several districts, with early reports indicating that more than half of eligible voters have cast their ballots by 2:00 p.m. today.
According to the latest figures, Gampaha and Mannar are leading the way with voter turnout at 52% and 55%, respectively. Other districts showing strong participation include Trincomalee at 51%, and Kilinochchi at 46%.
While turnout is higher in certain areas, districts such as Kalutara and Jaffna have seen relatively lower participation, with turnout at 45% and 42%, respectively.
