Colombo Additional Magistrate Bandara Ilangasinghe has directed the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) to speed up its investigation into actress Piumi Hansamali and Aura Lanka Chairman Viranjith Thambugala. The order was given today (November 11) as the case filed under Section 190 of the Inland Revenue Act was reviewed in court.
The IRD is investigating whether any offenses were committed by the two under this section of the Inland Revenue Act. During the session, the counsel for the IRD reported that search warrants had been issued to inspect documents at both individuals’ residences, but neither was present at their homes during the searches.
