President Anura Kumara Dissanayake announced today (November 11) at a public rally in Gampaha that Sri Lanka's debt restructuring process is on track for completion by December. He highlighted the government's commitment to restoring financial stability amid ongoing economic challenges.
“We are almost finished with the restructuring process, with only a few final steps remaining,” the President said, adding that by 2028, Sri Lanka will be prepared to begin repaying the restructured debt.
He also noted that an International Monetary Fund (IMF) team will visit Sri Lanka soon after the upcoming general election to conduct a third review of the economic recovery program. This review is expected to be completed by late January or early February 2025, setting the stage for a stronger economic future.
