SriLankan Airlines' ad promoting the "Ramayana Trail," a journey to the legendary sites linked to the Ramayana epic, has gained widespread admiration online.

The five-minute ad features a grandmother sharing the story of the Ramayana with her grandson from a children's book. When he asks where Ravana took Sita after abducting her, the grandmother explains that Ravana's kingdom was in what is now Sri Lanka.

“All the places in the Ramayana are real. Today, we know Lanka as Sri Lanka,” she says, as the video reveals Ravan's Cave near Ella, believed to be where Sita was held before moving to Ashoka Vatika in Ravana’s palace.

The video highlights other Ramayana locations, such as the Seetha Amman Temple, also known as the Ashok Vatika Sita Temple, maintained by the Indian Tamils of Sri Lanka.

It also discusses the bridge built by Rama's army to reach Lanka, known as Ram Setu, which links Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu to Sri Lanka’s coast. The grandson asks if the bridge still stands, and his grandmother confirms that it can still be seen.

The ad also covers the story of Hanuman carrying a mountain with the Sanjeevani herb to save Lakshman, with some believing that Rumassala Hill is part of the fallen mountain due to its unique medicinal plants.

Praised as one of the best airline ads, social media users commended the airline for using the Ramayana story to boost spiritual tourism. One user wrote, “What an outstanding ad. It will inspire so many to visit Sri Lanka.” Another said, “Such a spectacular ad, gave me goosebumps. Our tourism industry should take notes from this.” Others echoed similar sentiments, noting the ad’s appeal and calling it “remarkable for highlighting Ramayana sites,” which they said would encourage visitors to discover Sri Lanka's rich heritage.
