The Election Commission has issued a special gazette notification confirming the appointment of the new Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Elpitiya provincial Council.
According to the gazette, Mr. Nishantha Perera, a resident of Colombo Tantri, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Elpitiya Regional Council. Mr. Sumit Chandana, hailing from Wagoda Pathira, has been named the Vice Chairman of the council.
These appointments follow the decisive victory of the National People's Force in the Elpitiya local council elections held on October 26, 2024. The party secured a strong mandate, winning 15 out of the 17 constituencies, solidifying its control over the council.
This marks a significant development in the political landscape of Elpitiya, with the newly appointed leaders now set to steer the local council towards future initiatives.
