Former SLPP MP Premnath C. Dolawatte has suggested that former President Ranil Wickremesinghe may make a political comeback if there is public demand. Speaking to the media, Dolawatte emphasized that Wickremesinghe could return to power to promote good governance and ensure national security.
When asked if Wickremesinghe might re-enter politics through the national list after upcoming elections, Dolawatte noted that it would depend on the will of the people. Although Wickremesinghe has previously announced plans to retire, Dolawatte clarified that he would only do so if the people no longer sought his leadership.
Dolawatte added that political history shows leaders often return unexpectedly when the public calls for their guidance, and Wickremesinghe would likely respond if the people desired his leadership once again.
