President Anura Kumara Dissanayake stressed the National People's Power (NPP) commitment to changing Sri Lanka's political culture. Speaking at a public rally in Monaragala yesterday (November 4), he emphasized the need for politicians to follow a defined framework, obey the law, and govern in a civilized manner.

Dissanayake pointed out that the current political system in Sri Lanka lacks these important standards. He criticized practices like the use of unregistered vehicles and those smuggled into the country, which he believes reflect a disregard for the law.

He stated, “Laws do not apply to them. That’s why we believe in the principle that everyone is equal before the law. No one, whether it’s the president or the prime minister, should misuse public property. We do not want this kind of politics, and we aim to standardize it.”
