Privatization plans have been stopped - CEB
This declaration comes alongside plans to appoint a committee that includes employee representation, aimed at actively involving staff in upcoming programs led by the Ministry of Energy.
An online awareness program discussing reforms in the power sector was attended by the chairman and board members of the CEB, highlighting the importance of timely organizational changes to foster effective transformation. The board underscored the need for comprehensive reforms in alignment with the social transformation mandate from the President.
Key reforms will include amendments to the Electricity Act, ensuring that government-owned power plants and the transmission and distribution network remain public assets. The Board also invited CEB employees to collaborate in the ambitious goal of making Sri Lanka the country with the lowest electricity costs in the region within the next five years.
The CEB remains focused on modernizing the energy sector while reinforcing its commitment to serving the public interest.
