Rear Admiral Thushara Karunatunga, who was newly appointed as Commander Northern Naval Area, assumed duties at the Command Headquarters.

The incoming Commander was received to the Northern Naval Command in compliance with naval traditions. Thereafter, Rear Admiral Rohitha Abeysinghe who previously held the office, relinquished his duties upon formally handing over them to his successor.

Meanwhile, the senior officers of the Northern Naval Command congratulated the outgoing Commander for his service and bade him customary farewell on his departure.
