Maldives National Defence Force holds Victory Day exhibition
The exhibition at the National Art Gallery was inaugurated by President and Commander in Chief of the Maldives National Defence Force Dr Mohamed Muizzu.
The exhibition will be held from today until Saturday, and will be open from 09:00 hrs to 12:00 hrs, and again from 14:00 hrs to 18:00, and also 20:00 hrs to 22:00 hrs at night.
MNDF said that there will be over 200 exhibits featured. In addition to photos, this year's exhibition will also feature weapons and other instruments used by MNDF in the country's defence during the November 3 attack.
Victory Day is marked on November 3 annually to commerate Maldives' success in defending itself from the terrorist attack on November 3, 36 years ago.
During the attack, 19 Maldivians were martyred. Maldives defeated the insurgents through assistance from Indian army.
This year's Victory Day celebrations began with Fajr prayers at the Islamic Centre, editonmv reported. President Muizzu, Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheed and many MNDF officers prayed in congregation.
Following this, the President and First Lady attended the flag hoisting ceremony at the commemorative monument for November 3, and honoured the Guard Mounting ceremony.
The official ceremony of Victory Day will be held tonight at Dharubaaruge.
