The Ceylon Teachers' Union (CTU) has expressed concern over delays in evaluating the 2024 Grade five Scholarship Examination answer sheets, warning that further postponements could disrupt upcoming exams and affect students' learning.

CTU Chairman Priyantha Fernando urged the education authorities to address this issue promptly, stressing that timely assessment is crucial for keeping the academic schedule on track. He emphasized that delays could impact not only the current exam but also future school exams and student studies.

In response, Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Mrs. Thilaka Jayasundara, clarified that the evaluation delay is due to ongoing Supreme Court hearings regarding fundamental rights petitions related to the 2024 Grade five Scholarship Examination. As a result, the ministry has been unable to start the evaluation process.

However, Mrs. Jayasundara reassured that a formal request has been made to the court to expedite the evaluation process to reduce the impact on students.
