Sri Lanka advanced to the semi-finals of the Hong Kong Sixes 2024 after a convincing victory against Nepal in the quarter-finals today.

Batting first, Sri Lanka set an impressive total of 123 runs for the loss of just 2 wickets in their 6 overs. Opening batter Sandun Weerakkody dazzled with a rapid half-century, scoring 50 runs off just 14 balls before retiring hurt. Captain Lahiru Madushanka also made a significant contribution with a quickfire 31 runs off 8 balls, further solidifying Sri Lanka's position.

In response, Nepal struggled to keep pace, finishing their innings at 83 runs. Despite a valiant effort from Rashid Khan, who scored 55 runs off 18 balls, Nepal fell well short of the target. Sri Lankan bowlers Lahiru Samarakoon and Tharindu Rathnayake both took 2 wickets, stifling Nepal’s chase.

Sri Lanka is set to face Bangladesh in the second semi-final tomorrow, 3rd November, at 11:15 AM Sri Lanka Time.
