Afghanistan "A" celebrated a landmark achievement, winning their first Emerging Teams Asia Cup by defeating Sri Lanka "A" by 7 wickets, with 11 balls remaining at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground, Oman, today (October 27).

Afghanistan “A” chased down Sri Lanka’s total of 133/7, reaching 134/3 in 18.1 overs. Sediqullah Atal anchored the chase, notching his sixth consecutive T20 half-century and leading his team with confidence to their historic victory.

Sri Lanka "A," who have won the tournament twice before, struggled to post a competitive total, despite a valiant 64-run knock from Sahan Arachchige off 47 balls. Afghanistan A’s disciplined bowling attack, focusing on precision and control, effectively restricted Sri Lanka's scoring opportunities, allowing only minimal support for Arachchige from the other batsmen.

Afghanistan A's journey to the title was marked by their strong performance throughout the tournament, suffering only one group-stage loss to Hong Kong. They defeated India in a high-stakes semifinal to advance to the final.

With this victory, Afghanistan A joins the ranks of previous tournament champions Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and India and brings home the first-ever Emerging Teams Asia Cup title for Afghanistan, highlighting a promising future for Afghan cricket in the World Stage.
