The official Sri Lankan delegation included Deputy High Commissioner in London, Ms. Manorie Mallikaratchy, and Mr. Chatura Perera, Director of Europe & North America for Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They took part in essential discussions, including the Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting, where they emphasized Sri Lanka’s commitment to the Commonwealth’s objectives.
Sri Lankan delegation meets Samoa’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Hon. Peseta Nouméa Simi
During the summit, members adopted significant resolutions, including the Leaders’ Statement, the Samoa CHOGM 2024 Communiqué, and the Apia Commonwealth Ocean Declaration. The meeting also announced Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, as the incoming Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, reflecting a continued focus on African representation.
As part of her engagements, Ms. Mallikaratchy met Samoa’s CEO of Samoa’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Hon. Peseta Nouméa Simi, to deliver greetings from the Sri Lankan President for CHOGM 2024 in Samoa and exchange views on regional cooperation. She also met with Commonwealth Secretary-General, The Rt Hon Patricia Scotland KC, discussing recent developments in Sri Lanka and reaffirming the country’s alignment with Commonwealth values and initiatives.
