The Department of Railways has announced that the renovated Maho -Anuradhapura section of the Northern Railway Line will officially open on October 28. Deputy Director of Traffic, M. J. Indipolage, confirmed that the installation of safety gates for railway crossings is currently in progress.

Once these safety measures are completed, train services along this section are expected to resume. The reopening has faced multiple delays in the past, primarily due to issues with the installation of the signaling system.
