A Chief Police Inspector from the Gampola Police Division has been arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 20,000.
The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption reported that the officer was arrested based on information received by a resident from Illawathura, Gampola.
The arrest occurred when the officer accepted Rs. 20,000, and the Chief Police Inspector of the Gampola Police Division is now in custody for further investigation into the matter.
