The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has submitted a proposal to the Public Utilities Commission (PUC) aimed at reducing electricity bills for consumers. This marks the third time this year that the Board has sought approval for a rate reduction.

CEB officials stated that they are optimistic about the proposal’s approval, which, if granted, will lead to a decrease in electricity costs for households and businesses.

The exact reduction percentages will be announced following the Commission's review and approval of the proposal.

The CEB's continued efforts to lower electricity bills come amid rising concerns over the affordability of utility services. Stakeholders are closely watching the Commission's decision, which could provide much-needed relief to consumers.

Further updates will be provided once the PUC makes its determination on the proposal.
