The management of Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake declared a full emergency today following a bomb scare involving a Vistara flight from Mumbai to Colombo. According to a statement from BIA management, the flight was scheduled to land at 3:15 PM (October 24) when a non-specific bomb threat was reported.

In response, security agencies implemented all necessary safety measures as per protocol. The flight, carrying 107 passengers, one infant, and eight crew members, landed safely at 2:55 PM. Passengers were quickly evacuated from the aircraft to the terminal, ensuring their safety.

In related news, Indian media reported that over 85 flights faced fresh bomb threats within just 24 hours. The threats targeted 20 flights each from Air India, Indigo, and Vistara, along with 25 from Akasa Airlines.

In total, more than 170 flights operated by Indian carriers have received bomb threats.
