The Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Santhosh Jha, held discussions with Secretary to the President, Dr. Nandika Kumanayake, at the Presidential Secretariat regarding the ongoing fishing disputes in the Northern Sea. According to the President's Media Division (PMD), both parties emphasized the need for a long-term resolution that would cater to the concerns of both Indian and Sri Lankan fishermen, promoting cooperation between the two countries.

In addition to the fishing issues, the discussions reviewed the progress of Indian-funded projects in Sri Lanka, including those financed through loans and grants. The officials addressed existing challenges faced by these projects and agreed to expedite the remaining work to ensure timely completion. The talks highlighted the importance of strengthening bilateral ties while resolving these ongoing issues.
