Samoa gearing up to Host CHOGM 2024
This year’s CHOGM will include a series of important Executive sessions where leaders will assess progress since the previous meeting held in Rwanda in 2022 and strategize for the future of the Commonwealth. The agenda also includes several Ministerial Meetings, 35 side events, and four Forums, covering a wide range of global issues, including climate change, economic development, and human rights.
A key moment of the event will be the election of the new Commonwealth Secretary-General. This high-profile event will see His Majesty King Charles III, accompanied by Queen Camilla, attending his first CHOGM as Head of the Commonwealth, following his ascension to the throne. The King has previously attended CHOGMs, but this will mark his first in the role of Head.
The event is expected to foster deeper collaboration among the 56 member nations of the Commonwealth, including Sri Lanka, and provide a platform for addressing shared global challenges.
