Health officials have raised concerns about the potential rise in waterborne diseases due to recent flooding in several districts. Chaminda Muthukuda, Secretary of the Public Health Inspectors' Union, cautioned the public to remain alert to prevent the spread of illnesses like dengue fever, leptospirosis, and gastrointestinal infections.

Muthukuda further advised flood-affected residents to ensure their drinking water is safe, recommending the use of lukewarm water to eliminate germs introduced by floodwater. He also urged the public to clean surfaces exposed to contaminated water to reduce the risk of infectious diseases.
