International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed it's Men's Player of the Month nominees for September, namely three cricketers.

Australian batter Travis head, along with Sri Lankan stars Prabath Jayasuriya and Kamindu Mendis are running for this award. The explosive game of Travis in white-ball format and Jayasuriya and Mendis' splendid performances in red-ball cricket have resulted in them being strong contenders.

Exceptional skills by Travis Head during their tour of England won him a place in the nominees. In September, he scored 182 runs in five T20Is at a strike rate of 245.94. Head's form stayed consistent in ODI format as well, where he scored 248 runs at an average of 82.66 and strike rate of 120.97.

The exceptional bowling skills by Prabath Jayasuriya were instrumental in Sri Lanka's victory over New Zealand in September. His outstanding performance in September got him to take 21 wickets at an average of 27.90 in three Tests. He also broke the national record as he became the fastest bowler to take 100 wickets in Test cricket in just 16 matches.

The exceptional form of Kamindu Mendis since his debut in Test cricket continued on in September, which was mainly highlighted by his impressive 451runs in four Tests at an average of 90.20. He also achieved a particular feat by becoming the first male player to score a half century in each of his first eight Tests. Mendis also made history as he became the fastest batter in 75 years to have scored 1000 runs in Tests cricket, achieving this in just 8 matches
