Air Vice Marshal (Retired) Sampath Thuyacontha, the Defence Secretary, clarified the recent Gazette notification issued by the President summoning the tri-forces, emphasizing it was a standard procedure aimed at ensuring public safety.

Speaking to the media, defence  Secretary stated that the President has the authority to call upon the tri-forces even without an emergency law, noting that such notifications are typically issued monthly.

He expressed concern over misinformation circulating on social media, urging the public to understand that the measures are precautionary and routine.  

Defence Secretary  highlighted the identification of various nontraditional threats facing Sri Lanka and reassured the public that the government is committed to addressing these challenges without causing public inconvenience.

He outlined plans to enhance the capabilities of the tri-forces, focusing on advancements in technology and training to effectively manage security concerns. The government's proactive stance aims to ensure the safety and security of the nation amidst evolving threats.
