DMC says that more than 30,000 people in 7 districts have been affected by the bad weather

The Department of Meteorology says that heavy rain will occur in several districts today.
Due to the heavy rain falling in Galle district, the water of Ging river has reached the overflow level.
It is reported that the highest rainfall has fallen in Thavalama / Neluwa / Lankagama and Niagama areas.
There is a risk of flooding in the low-lying areas of the Ging Ganga valley belonging to Neluwa,Thavalama,Nagoda, Niagama, Welivitiya – Divithura Elpitiya,Akmeemana,Baddegama and Bope Poddala Divisional Secretariat Divisions.
The Irrigation Department informs that people in these areas should be vigilant in the next 48 hours.
In the past 24 hours, Mahaoya area of Ampara district has received the most rainfall.It is 85 mm. Due to the heavy rain, the sluice gates of the Kukule river have been opened and a water capacity of about 200 cubic meters per second is releasing.B
Divisional Secretary informs the people of Bulathsinhala and surrounding low lands to be vigilant.
Several areas of the Bulathsinghala-Kalutara main road have been flooded.
Due to the overflow of Attanagalu Oya, many low lands have been flooded.
The lower areas of the river have been flooded and the main roads of Gampaha Ganemulla and Gampaha Canal have been submerged in the Kiridivita area.
It is reported that a large number of people have been severely affected by the inundation of many villages in the Natthandia Mahawewa area. Medoya, Muttibadiwila, Yatakalana,Galamunu Kuduwewa ,Mahawewa,Lunuoya,Medapitiya are flooded.
Chillaw - Puttalam train services disrupted due to the fall of a huge tree.
The train running from Puttalam to Panadura was seen stopped at the place where the tree had fallen.
The National Building Research Organization says that even though the evacuation notices imposed on several areas due to landslides have been lifted, the people in those areas should be vigilant.The Disaster Management Center has also issued red notices for several divisional secretariats in Kalutara and Ratnapura districts due to the ongoing landslide risk.
Landslide warning notices have been extended to Colombo, Galle, Kegalle, Matara, and Nuwara Eliya districts.
