The National Building Research Organization (NBRO) has issued landslide warning for several districts. The Met Department forecasts very heavy showers above 150 mm are likely at some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.
Level 1 (Yellow) warning was issued for the following areas:
- Kalutara –Walallawita and Palindanuwara DSDs and surrounding areas
- Kegalle- Dehiowita, Deraniyagala, Warakapola, Yatiyanthota, Kegalle DSDs and surrounding areas
- Matara –Athuraliya DSD and surrounding areas
- Ratnapura- Pelmadulla, Nivithigala DSDs and surrounding areas
Level 2 (Amber) warning has been issued for several areas in the Galle, Kalutara, Matara and Ratnapura districts as follows:
- Galle – Elpitiya, Neluwa, Yakkalamulla and Nagoda Divisional Secretariat Divisions (DSD) and surrounding areas
- Kalutara – Ingirya, Horana, Bulathsinhala and Mathugama DSDs and surrounding areas
- Matara –Pitabeddara DSD and surrounding areas
- Ratnapura- Kuruwita, Ratnapura, Elapatha, Eheliyagoda and Kalawana DSDs and surrounding areas
The warnings are effective for 24 hours from 05:00 AM this morning.
