The Supreme Court has annulled the enforcement of recommendations made by the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) that investigated allegations of political victimization. This commission was appointed by former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and was chaired by retired Supreme Court Judge Upali Abeyratne.

The ruling came in response to petitions filed by several individuals, including former DIG Ravi Senaviratne, retired High Court Judge Padmini Ranawaka, Sandya Eknaligoda, and retired Senior Superintendent of Police Shani Abeysekera, who was also a former Director of the Criminal Investigation Department.

A three-judge bench comprising Justices Vijith Malalgoda, Achala Wengappuli, and Arjuna Obeysekera delivered the verdict. The court also ordered the government to compensate each petitioner with court fees amounting to one hundred and fifty thousand rupees.
