The ten suspects arrested in connection with the shooting death of two individuals, including Surendra Wasantha Perera, alias ‘Club Wasantha,’ in Athurigiriya, were presented before the Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court today.

The court proceedings are also set to include the son of the deceased businessman, the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Western Province South Crimes Division, representatives from the Attorney General’s Department, and the individual responsible for handling Wasantha’s body.

Earlier, the Sri Lanka Police have requested public assistance in locating three additional suspects related to the case, and have released their photographs and details.

Among those arrested are the owner of the tattoo studio in Athurigiriya, where the shooting occurred on July 8, and a 21-year-old female suspected of aiding and abetting the crime. Investigations have revealed that the tattoo studio owner received Rs. 1 million over a period of time.

The incident took place during the opening ceremony of the tattoo and piercing studio near the Clock Tower in Athurigiriya. Six people were hospitalized following the shooting, with 55-year-old Surendra Wasantha Perera and a 38-year-old man succumbing to their injuries. Injured individuals also included popular singer K. Sujeewa and Wasantha’s wife.

The investigation led to the discovery of the van used by the suspects, abandoned in Bulathsinhala, as well as the car used for the shooting, which was found abandoned in Kaduwela.
