Sri Lanka has garnered approximately USD 1.5 million from tourism in the first half of 2024, according to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL). This figure represents nearly double the growth compared to the same period last year.

In addition to tourism gains, foreign workers’ remittances totaled USD 3.14 million in the first six months of 2024, marking an increase from USD 2.82 million during the same period in 2023.

The CBSL also reported that the country’s official foreign reserves climbed to USD 5.7 billion by June 2024. Furthermore, the Sri Lankan rupee has appreciated against the US dollar up to June 2024.
