Three female soldiers, aged 22, were arrested for deserting their posts and hiding at a house in Maththegoda without reporting for duty.
The soldiers, attached to the Kokavil and Sandunpura army camps, were identified as residents of Hasalaka, Denipitiya, and Polgasowita. The soldier from Polgasowita had been on leave, and the other two visited her, staying at the house for several days without authorization.
A resident of the house reported their presence to Police 119. Upon questioning, the police confirmed they were deserting their service. The soldiers have been handed over to the Army for further investigation.
