Police officers injured in confrontation; suspect hospitalized

A sub-inspector and a sergeant from the Anuradhapura Police were injured during a scuffle with an individual who behaved disruptively and obstructed police duties. The incident resulted in all parties being admitted to the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital for treatment.

According to police reports, the 45-year-old suspect, a resident of Anuradhapura, was behaving unruly and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. He allegedly assaulted the officers who were en route to arrest another suspect.

HQI of the Anuradhapura Police, R.M. Jayaweera, stated that the suspect will face court proceedings once discharged from the hospital.
