Sri Lanka’s inflation rises to 2.4% in June 2024

The National Consumer Price Index (NCPI) indicates that inflation has risen to 2.4% in June 2024, up from 1.6% in May 2024, according to the latest data released by the Department of Census and Statistics.

Food inflation saw a notable increase, reaching 1.9% in June 2024 compared to 0.5% in May 2024. Year-on-year inflation for non-food items also rose, climbing to 2.7% in June 2024 from 2.4% in May 2024.

Food commodities contributed 0.85% to the inflation rate in June 2024, compared to the same month in 2023.

The NCPI for all items in May 2024 was 206.3, reflecting a decrease of 1.9 index points from April 2024.
