Dulan Sanjula, owner of the tattoo studio in Athurugiriya, has made a confidential statement before the Kaduwela Magistrate regarding a recent shooting incident that claimed two lives, including that of Surendra Wasantha Perera alias ‘Club Wasantha’.
Sanjula, along with six other suspects, has been further remanded until August 5, 2024, following a court appearance on July 10. Initially requesting to make a confidential statement during the hearing, the magistrate advised Sanjula to defer his statement for a later date.
Security measures for the suspects have been heightened due to their association with alleged accomplices of the notorious criminal figure known as “Loku Patee”, currently detained.
In a related development, police arrested a 21-year-old woman suspected of involvement in ‘Club Wasantha’s’ killing at the Athurugiriya studio.
The shooting incident occurred during the studio’s opening ceremony near Athurugiriya’s Clock Tower on July 8. Among the casualties were ‘Club Wasantha’, a 55-year-old businessman, and another male aged 38. Singer K. Sujeewa and ‘Club Wasantha’s’ wife were among the four injured.
