The Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team (SL CERT) has launched an investigation into 40 government information systems to determine if they have been compromised following a global IT outage linked to software from a leading US-based cybersecurity firm.
Charuka Damunupola, Senior Information Engineer at SL CERT, confirmed that reports have been requested to assess whether the affected government systems utilize Microsoft applications, which were impacted by the outage.
In addition, Damunupola revealed that initial findings indicate that four private institutions in Sri Lanka have been affected. Unofficial reports also suggest that two Sri Lankan banks are among the impacted entities.
