Two drown in Chillaw and Katugastota

A 20-year-old youth drowned while bathing in the Deduru Oya in Chillaw last evening, police said. 

He was rushed to Chilaw Hospital but was pronounced dead upon admission. The deceased, identified as a resident of Hatton, was on a leisure trip with his wife and three others. Chillaw Police are currently investigating the incident.

In a separate incident, a 43-year-old man drowned while bathing in the Mahaweli River on the Katugastota-Madawala road. The deceased, a resident of the Haloya area, was found deceased, and his body has been taken to Kandy Hospital. The Katugastota Police are conducting further investigations into this incident.
