Alcaraz stuns Djokovic to retain Wimbledon title
In a repeat of last year's final, Carlos Alcaraz has beaten 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic to win the gentlemen's singles title.
In 2023 the Spaniard needed five sets and more than four hours to get past the seven-time Wimbledon champion.
This year, Alcaraz finished the job - on his 4th match point - in straight sets, taking just two hours and 27 minutes to secure his second Wimbledon title and fourth Grand Slam overall.
Carlos Alcaraz has become the ninth man to retain his Wimbledon title in the Open era.
Novak Djokovic was the last player to do so, winning in both 2021 and 2022.
Also on the list is Roger Federer, Pete Sampras, Boris Becker, John McEnroe, Bjorn Borg, John Newcombe and Rod Laver.
Spaniard Rafael Nadal never won consecutive Wimbledon titles.
