Police have launched an investigation into several threatening posters found in Maharagama and Dematagoda after the Athurugiriya shooting, which resulted in the deaths of two individuals, including Club Wasantha.
On the day of Club Wasantha's final rites, a banner was discovered at the cremation ground in Godigamuwa, Maharagama, where the notorious underworld leader Madush, who died in a police shootout, was cremated. The banner featured Madush's photo and the message, "Our brother... We are sending one by one. Wait for us..." along with the letters "KPI," suspected to refer to Kanjipani Imran.
ALso, police found several posters near the home of Madush's mistress on Station Road, Maharagama, on Sunday (14). These posters contained messages such as "Everybody in the underworld prepare to go where Madush went" and "The same punishment for Kanjipani's family."
Similar threatening posters were also discovered on the gate of the Hiru Sewana apartment complex and a notice board near the Dematagoda railway yard.
The police have taken these posters into custody and have launched investigations in Maharagama and Dematagoda.
