Two wanted underworld figures allegedly involved in several murders and illegal activities in the country have been arrested by the CID in Dubai and brought to the country early this morning.
Police said the suspects, 48-year-old Dinesh Samantha de Silva alias “Babi”, a resident of Nugegoda and 26-year old Kankanamlage Dimuthu Chaturanga Perera alias “Samitpura Chathu”, a resident of Samitpura, Mattakkuliya were brought back to Sri Lanka at the to Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake.
A team of four senior police officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) brought the suspects to the country from Dubai.
Police said 'Samitpura Chathu' is to be handed over to the Colombo Crime Division (CCD), while 'Babi' will be handed over to the Homicide and Organized Crime Investigation Division.
