The Railway Department is preparing to terminate nearly 1,000 Station Masters and Railway Controllers who participated in recent trade union actions.

Despite railway services being categorized as essential, these employees chose to join the industrial action.

According to a senior official who spoke to the Daily Mirror, the department has already finalized nearly 1,000 termination letters, which are set for printing and distribution. This decision comes as a response to the disruption caused by the trade union action, which has severely impacted essential rail services across the country.

The impending issuance of termination notices underscores the severity of the situation, highlighting the department's firm stance on maintaining uninterrupted railway operations. The official further emphasized that the department cannot tolerate disruptions to essential services and is taking decisive action to ensure operational continuity.

The affected workers now face uncertain futures as the department moves forward with its disciplinary measures.
