Former Parliamentarian Hirunika Premachandra's application for bail pending appeal was scheduled for inquiry today at the Colombo High Court.

During the proceedings before Judge Amal Ranaraja, the Attorney General submitted written objections against the bail application. As a result, the inquiry was set to be conducted on July 15.

Hirunika Premachandra, convicted and sentenced to three years in prison for her involvement in the abduction of a youth using a Defender, has appealed the verdict at the Court of Appeal. The charges against her included conspiracy, aiding in abduction, and other related offenses against victim Amila Priyankara in Dematagoda. She pleaded not guilty to all 18 counts and was fined Rs. 20,000 for each charge.
