Kadiravel Shanmugam is slated to enter Parliament to fill the vacancy. Shanmugam, who contested the 2020 General Elections under the TNA ticket in Trincomalee District, garnered 16,770 votes, positioning him as the chosen successor to represent the constituency.
The announcement comes as the TNA prepares to appoint Shanmugam to succeed the late R. Samanthan, who had been a prominent figure in Tamil politics for decades.
