The Sri Lankan Cabinet has given its nod to amend the existing circular governing the admission process for Grade 01 students in government schools.
This decision, aimed at enhancing transparency and minimizing irregularities in the admission process, reflects the government's commitment to ensuring equitable access to education across the country.
Minister Bandula Gunawardena, the Cabinet Spokesman, emphasized that the admission of children into Grade 01 classes is conducted in a fair and transparent manner, adhering strictly to guidelines outlined in the Ministry of Education's circular. This move is intended to uphold principles of fairness and accessibility in education, crucial for fostering a level playing field for all students.
The proposal to revise the current circular was put forth by Minister of Education Susil Premajayantha, building upon insights gained from previous years' experiences. The amendments are expected to streamline the admission procedures, address any existing challenges, and further enhance the integrity of the process.
Furthermore, the Cabinet of Ministers has greenlighted the application of the revised circular for the admission of Grade 01 students for the year 2025 and subsequent academic years.
