The Constitutional Council is scheduled to convene today at the Parliament complex to decide on Attorney General Sanjay Rajaratnam's service extension.
Eventhough a recommendation regarding a service extension was presented to the Constitutional Council on two previous occasions, making a decision was delayed due to legal complexities.
The Constitutional Council is scheduled to convene under the chairmanship of Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana.
President Ranil Wickremesinghe recently proposed a 6-month service extension for Attorney Sanjay Rajaratnam, nearing his retirement on June 26th.
