The Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Padiyathalawa Police Station has been hospitalized following an assault.
According to reports, a group of individuals from another party assaulted the OIC during a personal dispute in the Saranagama area of Padiyathalawa.
The OIC sustained serious injuries and has been admitted to the Badulla Teaching Hospital for intensive treatment.
A spokesperson for the hospital confirmed that the OIC is currently under intensive care.
Police said a suspect involved in the assault on the OIC surrendered to the Mahiyanganaya police and has been taken into custody.
The Mahiyangana police are continuing their investigations into this incident.
