Inspector General of Police Deshabandu Tennakoon has announced imminent legal action against several police officers linked to criminal syndicates and drug trafficking.
Tennakoon said that he has directed the Police Special Investigation Unit to address these individuals.
Additionally, the IGP confirmed the disciplinary measures taken against a Police Officer-in-Charge (OIC) involved in illicit contacts.
He also mentioned that phone records pertaining to the other implicated police officers have been forwarded to both the Police Special Investigation Unit and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
