The Sri Lanka Information Technology Association has urged the public to remain vigilant against fraudulent messages circulating under the guise of well-known brands offering mobile phone prizes.
In a statement, the association emphasized that these deceptive messages, often accompanied by links, pose a significant risk as they can be exploited by cyber attackers and hackers to obtain sensitive personal information once the links are accessed.
Furthermore, it was highlighted that such deceptive messages may facilitate the installation of malicious software on mobile devices, which can then propagate to installed applications, making them difficult to remove or mitigate.
Due to the surge in reported incidents, individuals are strongly advised to refrain from opening such messages, even if they appear to originate from reputable sources.
